Where Are All the Log Home Manufacturers?

Despite the rise in interest in log homes, it would appear that log home manufacturers are becoming more and more difficult to find, let alone hire. Surprisingly, despite the lack of available log home manufacturers, most people will place themselves on waiting lists, sometimes as long as several years, in order to have their log home built. With the demand for a rustic, pioneer style home with all the modern comforts of today increasing, we see fewer log home manufacturers stepping forward to fill this demand. The result of this is a void being filled by second rate contractors willing to do the job without necessary knowledge.

Originally designed by the early western pioneers, as a quick and sturdy habitat, the log home has received much interest from the baby boomer generation. These soon to be retirees are seeking log home manufacturers by the dozen to build their own piece of American history to settle down in. This trend will soon die out however, if the decrease in the number of log home manufacturers continues. Although by no means extinct, the log home manufacturer is a trade on the decline in North America.
