Insects Love Log Cabin Homes Too

In the last 15 – 20 years, North America has seen a dramatic increase in the design, sale, and construction of log cabin homes. Once believed to be the place of residence of the local hermit deep in the woods, log cabin homes have become more and more popular with the baby boomer generation as a place to retire in. With their unique style and rustic roots, log cabin homes would appear to be an ideal place to come home to.

Unfortunately, insects are also starting to find log cabin homes an ideal place to come home to. With rush jobs performed by builders and improperly sealed joints; flies, ants and termites are settling into new log cabin homes often times even before the owners do. With an abundance of nesting area and ample food to be found, log cabin homes are almost irresistible to insects. While having the insects rush into your home is no problem, getting them out can be very difficult, sometimes involving a partial dismantling of the infested area. Yes, log cabin homes do look beautiful, and cozy, but they may be altogether too inviting to pests you’d rather not share your home with.
